A 24-volume edition of one of the main liturgical books of the Orthodox Church — the service Menaion, containing services for church holidays and Orthodox saints for each day of the year. The edition is a reprint, reproducing the Menaions prepared by the Moscow Patriarchate Publishing House for the 1000th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus' (1988).
With each reissue or additional print run, services or individual texts approved by the Holy Synod of the Russian Church since the previous release of the Menaions are added to the collection. The additions are made using computer typesetting and are placed at the end of the corresponding volume.
After 1988, the Menaions were published in 2002, 2008, 2011, 2014, and 2018.
As part of the 2018–2019 reissue, the October volume was completely retypeset. Previously, it was also a reprint and also had an inconvenient structure, due to the history of its first edition. Now all the services of the volume, including the new ones, are structured the same way as in the other volumes: a service and a life (or historical information about the icon, holiday). In addition, "another service to the martyr Uar" was removed from the October volume, which has an Old Believer priestless origin and is based on a dubious legend about the martyr's grace to pray for the unbaptized, not confirmed by ancient sources of his life, primarily Greek ones.
