The translation of the New Testament with brief commentaries, made by the famous Russian biblicalist A. Desnitsky, on the one hand, preserves continuity with tradition (especially in terminology), and on the other hand, seeks to convey in modern Russian the dynamism, rhetorical saturation and stylistic diversity of the original. Its main principle is not to copy the Greek syntax, but to find in modern Russian constructions suitable for conveying the thought and style of the original. This is especially true in the Epistles, which make up 21 of the 27 books of the New Testament.
