This book is an introduction to the internal Linux device. The main subsystems of the kernel and their essence, access control mechanisms and privileges, principles and mechanisms of containerization are considered. Attention is paid to Linux components, subsystems and their functioning as a single system. The user environment, the CLI command line interface, the command interpreter language and its use to automate actual tasks are described in detail. All provisions are clearly illustrated by examples developed by the author and tested in practice.
3rd edition describes the mechanisms of forced access delimitation and integrity control, unique to the Russian secure distribution Astra Linux and operating systems in general. Recent changes in OS components have been taken into account and case listings have been updated. The chapter on the network subsystem has been expanded, a chapter on modern means of tracing, load measurement and performance monitoring has been added.
