Not everyone expects a miracle from Christmas.
Rose, for example, avoids Christmas. All these gifts, congratulations, fuss – for those who deserve to be happy. And definitely not for her. Charlie can't bear the thought of Christmas. What good is it, if in an empty house with no one to watch your favorite movies and set the festive table?
To escape from all this, each of them rented a charming cottage in a village in Northern Ireland and plans to walk their dog alone along the ocean; visit a lighthouse to enjoy the surrounding views, or just read by the fireplace, pretending that there is no Christmas. But mistakes happen. It also happens that two guests rent one house.
So Charlie and Rose find themselves dissatisfied with the guests of one very cozy cottage.
Oh, and it's Christmas.
