The monograph by the famous military historian, Doctor of Historical Sciences A.V.Ganin is devoted to the last period of existence of the main higher military educational institution of the Russian Empire - the Imperial Nicholas Military Academy. In the era of the First World War and the Civil War, it provided accelerated training of officers at wartime courses. In 1918-1922 the academy was evacuated from Petrograd to Yekaterinburg and Kazan, then to Tomsk and Vladivostok, and after the Civil War it was returned to Moscow. During these years, the academy went through dramatic trials, visited opposing camps, and became an independent force in the military-political struggle in white Siberia. The history of the Academy, its permanent and variable staff, the fates of these people in the period of turning point for the history of our country are of considerable interest. The work is based on the study of all archives of the Academy, preserved in Russia and abroad, the materials of which are mainly introduced into the scientific turnover for the first time. The publication is intended for all those interested in the history of Russia in the era of wars and revolutionary upheavals.
