Into the Arctic Sea. Searching for Barents' Traces on Novaya Zemlya in Russian-Dutch Expeditions from 1991 to 2000

The book "Into the Arctic Sea" opens a new series of books published by the publishing house "Paulsen" - "Diaries of Modern Expeditions". The book tells about Russian-Dutch expeditions to Novaya Zemlya and Vaygach Island, where together with Russian archaeologists scientists searched for traces of the last, third expedition of Willem Barents. The expedition ended tragically for Barents - during the first wintering in the history of the Arctic in 1597 he died on Novaya Zemlya. His grave has still not been found. The action of Seberg's book "Into the Arctic Sea" unfolds in two historical planes: the events of the expeditions to Novaya Zemlya under the leadership of P.V. Boyarsky in the 1990-2000s, described in the diaries of the Dutch participants, and the events that happened more than four centuries ago and started a close intertwining of facts, stories, documents and persons, which firmly and firmly connected the two countries.
