Alexander Pushkin (1799-1837) is the greatest Russian poet, reformer and creator of new Russian literature, who in his work gave the language extraordinary ease, sophistication and at the same time precision of expression of thought; brought folk speech closer to literary language, which became its norm. The style of his works is recognized as exemplary. His pen was capable of everything: philosophical, civil, love lyrics, translations, imitations of the ancients, satirical genres, including epigrams. Pushkin embodied his life and worldview searches in poems, which reflected the breadth of interests and the transformation of the poet's views.

The book contains selected, most famous poems of the poet, from his lyceum days to the year of the fatal duel (1813-1836).
