Bella Akhmadulina (1937–2010) entered literature together with the generation of the “sixties” and almost immediately took her place among the greatest poets of our time. “Fearlessness and courage… shown in rather difficult years, earned her the fame of an uncompromising citizen, but in no way distorted or coarsened the purity and height of her poetic voice,” wrote Andrei Bitov. Her poems are distinguished by a special musicality and subtle lyricism, and it is no coincidence that some of them became songs, uniting two related elements – poetry and music. “Harmony of meaning, sounds, colors, worldviews. She writes as she breathes. This is a rare quality, it speaks of the authenticity of burning. In this sense, Akhmadulina’s poems are a gift of nature. This organicity is born of nature” (B. Okudzhava). This edition includes poems from different years and verses.
