This contract is concluded between SIA “Kniga lv”, registration No. 40103225061, legal address: Lastādijas iela 16 - 12, Rīga, LV-1050, Latvija (hereinafter – the Company), and a natural or legal person (hereinafter – the Buyer) who purchases goods in the Company’s online store kniga.lv (hereinafter – the online store).
1. Subject of the contract
A distance contract is an agreement between the Buyer and the Company based on the Company’s offer via the Internet. This contract applies to all orders placed in the Company’s online store.
2. Entry into force
The distance contract enters into force after the Buyer has placed an order via the Internet and received confirmation from the Company, which is sent automatically to the email address after the order is completed. The order and the order confirmation are deemed received when the parties can access them.
3. General terms of ordering goods
The Buyer may shop in the Company’s online store without prior registration, which does not affect the terms of performance of the contract.
To place an order in the online store, you need to:
- 1. Click the “Buy” button next to the product you are interested in.
- 2. To place the order, click the cart icon in the upper right corner of the page. You can continue shopping and add more products, then return to the cart.
- 3. Fill in the Buyer’s details and agree to the terms on the website. After that the “Place order” button becomes active, and the order is registered once it is clicked.
Orders are processed on business days from 9:00 to 17:00 within 3–5 business days.
If necessary, the Company will contact the Buyer to clarify information and/or confirm the order.
4. Payment for the order
Online payment by bank card — you can pay for the order with a credit or debit card immediately when placing it. Receipt of payment in this case is checked automatically and usually takes no more than 5 minutes. We accept payment by VISA and Mastercard bank cards
Paypal — payment through your Paypal account
Bank transfer — after placing the order you receive the necessary details and pay for the purchase by bank transfer, for example through your internet bank. Please note: with this payment method the order starts to be processed only after the money has been credited to the account (order processing may take 2–3 days longer).
You can also pay with our electronic kniga.lv gift card.
All payment transactions are encrypted and completely secure.
5. Delivery terms
The ordered goods can be received by courier service, according to the delivery rates stated in the online store, by pickup, or at a selected parcel locker.
The delivery cost is not included in the price of the goods!
The Company reserves the right not to hand over the goods to the Buyer if payment has not been made.
Prices of goods include VAT. The delivery cost depends on the delivery region, weight, dimensions and packaging of the goods.
The Company is not responsible for subjective characteristics of the goods, for example the content of books.
6. Warranty
The warranty for goods from the online store is provided in accordance with the manufacturer’s terms.
If a claim about the quality of the goods arises during the warranty period, the Buyer may contact the Company with the goods and documents confirming payment. If a manufacturing defect is found, the goods will be replaced with an equivalent item. If the defect was caused by the Buyer, the goods are not subject to exchange.
The warranty is void in the following cases:
- use of the goods other than for their intended purpose;
- breach of the operating instructions;
- unauthorized repair;
- changes to the design of the goods;
- damage to the serial number of the goods.
The warranty also does not apply to damage caused by:
- foreign objects, insects, liquids and other substances getting inside;
- natural disasters, fires or accidents.
Claims regarding the quality of goods are considered in accordance with Cabinet Regulation No. 631 of 1 August 2006.
7. Time for performance of the distance contract
The Company undertakes to perform the contract in Latvia within no more than 30 days after receiving the order. Outside Latvia, the time limits depend on the terms of the online store.
If the Company cannot fulfill the order because the goods are unavailable, the Buyer will be offered equivalent goods or a refund.
8. Right to withdraw from the contract
In accordance with the Consumer Rights Protection Law of Latvia, the Buyer may withdraw from the distance contract within 14 calendar days and return the purchased goods to the Company.
The 14-day period starts when the goods are received.
The Buyer may not withdraw from the contract if the goods were damaged due to improper handling.
9. Procedure for returning goods
You may return your purchase within 14 days of receiving the order. Only goods purchased at full price are accepted for return. Goods sold in a promotion, at a sale or at a discount are not accepted for return.
According to Article 12(6) of the Consumer Rights Protection Law of the Republic of Latvia, during the withdrawal period the consumer is responsible for preserving the goods and their quality.
We reserve the right to refuse a return if the goods have been used, are damaged, are not complete, have lost their original appearance (scratches, creased corners and similar defects are visible), or if on return the goods were not packed tightly enough (book corners were not protected, the cover was not protected from scratches and bends), which led to damage to the goods.
When returning goods, a completed return form must be presented (enclosed in the parcel). Goods are returned through your local post office or an international courier service. Returns through our store branches are not provided. When goods are returned, the money paid for delivery is not refunded.
10. Confidentiality
The Company undertakes not to transfer information about the Buyer to third parties without the Buyer’s consent, except in cases provided for by the laws of Latvia.
11. Other terms
By placing an order, the Buyer agrees to the processing of their data in order to fulfill the order and deliver the goods. The Buyer also agrees to receive notifications by email.
The Company reserves the right to inform the Buyer about new goods, promotions and services.

12. Term of the contract:
The contract enters into force when the order is placed and remains in force until the parties have fully performed their obligations.
