The monograph examines visual-anthropological materials of the late XIX - early XX centuries, associated with expeditions to develop the Far Eastern region. The unique visual (drawings, photo, film) documents of researchers and travelers: V. K. Arsenyev, B. A. Zherebtsov, A. A. Litvinov, B. I. Dybovsky, N. V. Kirilov, I. A. Lopatin, P. T. Novograblenov, E. P. Orlova, B. O. Pilsudsky, P. I. Polevoy, kept in the regional archives of the Far East, are brought into scientific circulation. It is shown that visual sources on the history of the Far Eastern frontier were colorful evidence of the cultural evolution of indigenous peoples and the processes of colonization of the region and at the same time formed in the public consciousness stable visual images of the imperial and Soviet Far East. For historians, ethnologists, ethnographers, anthropologists, sociologists, philosophers, political scientists, culturologists, university professors and students.
