In Hungary, István Fekete is as well known and loved as Vitaly Bianchi or Evgeny Charushin. His books about animals open the world of nature to children and adults in a new way. And the famous "Foxy Wook" brought the writer worldwide fame. In our country, this red-haired prankster became especially popular in 1981 after the release of the cartoon of the same name. And yet the cartoon is much inferior to the book - adventurous, but deep, brightly and authentically conveying the inner world of the main characters. Fox Wook is still quite small. He looks like a soft fluffy ball and only an amazing sniff gives out in him the future hero of the forest. The little fox doesn't know where his mom and dad are, but he charms the fox Karak, who replaces his whole family and introduces him to the vast outside world. Soon enough, however, Wook proves that all paths are open to the brave, figures out where his family has disappeared to, and even frees his little sister from human captivity. And yet readers have come to love this book not only for its fascinating plot, but for the fact that it awakens understanding and sympathy, shows how fragile the world of animals is, how vulnerable and defenseless they are before man.
