Sergei Nikolaevich Sergeev-Tsensky (1875-1958) was a Russian and Soviet writer, winner of the Stalin Prize for his epic novel The Sebastopol Suffering. A monumentalist whom Gorky placed on a par with Tolstoy, Gogol, and Dostoevsky.
The novel-epic "Sevastopol Suffering" is devoted to the events of the Crimean War of 1853-1856 years. But this book is not about the war, but about people: about Admiral Nakhimov and Russian sailors, about General Gorchakov and the inhabitants of Sevastopol, who selflessly defended their native land. Their names and fates Sergeev-Tsensky immortalized in his novel.
