Vladimir Mikhailov, a classic of Russian fiction, started out in literature as a poet. And from poetry to fiction is one step - there are plenty of examples. His first fantastic experience, the story "Special Necessity", came at a good time. The flight of Gagarin, "Well, let's go!", the approach of space to man, enthusiastic crowds on the streets ... Science fiction overnight from yesterday's literary Cinderella turned into a fairy-tale Firebird, and fantasists from the close framework of "second-class literature" went to a wide highway. A whole pleiad of remarkable masters from Efremov and the Strugatsky brothers to Gansovsky, Savchenko, Gurevich, Larionova, Bulychev (one can go on for a long time) enriched the fantasy genre. And one of the most prominent in this constellation was a star named Vladimir Mikhailov. The cycle about Captain Uldemir belongs to the best works of the writer. In the first book of the cycle, "Watchman to my brother," the author puts before the heroes (and readers) the problem of choice. Supernova outbreak, which threatens the Earth with total destruction of mankind, is quite possible to bring to naught, extinguishing the explosive wave of advanced technologies of the future. But in the vicinity of the star there is a planet Dal, inhabited by natives of Earth. The chances of successful evacuation of its population are extremely small, and in case of a failed attempt, both Earth and Dal will burn in the flames. The Earthlings have to make a hard choice: to leave their blood brothers to their fate in order to save the Earth, or to risk jeopardizing their home planet. And if they choose the latter, who will take such an unparalleled risk? The choice fell on people from the past - Captain Uldemir and the crew of his starship... "Then come, and we will judge" - a direct sequel to "Watchman". This time Captain Uldemir is tasked with stopping the madmen living on neighboring planets from destroying each other in nuclear fire. At the heart of the plot of "The Overlord", which continues the series about Captain Uldemir, is also a war. But this war is completely different from those that have been waged since ancient times by intelligent and unintelligent inhabitants of the universe. The claims of the ruler of the planet Assart do not extend to neighboring territories. He needs alien history to reshape it as he sees fit, to become the ruler of time.
