"Silence at the outpost. The patrols leave and arrive silently. Tomorrow is Sunday - you can have fun at the club, but now - look sharper, border guard: the peace of the Motherland is in your hands. And no one at the outpost could have imagined what would happen tomorrow." This is how the first part of the story "The Thirtieth Outpost" ends, telling about the difficult but noble service of Soviet border guards.

The second part tells about the combat actions of the outpost during the Great Patriotic War, about battles and campaigns, the struggle of border guards with Nazi agents, about how the outpost, as a result of the rapid advance of the Soviet Army, again reached the old border.

The story is written on the basis of rich factual material. One of the authors - F. Vishnivetsky - was himself a participant in the events described in the book.
