Ivan Puni, an associate of Kazimir Malevich who co-organized two major leftist art exhibitions, "Tram B" and "0.10," made a name for himself in the mid-1910s. After the revolution, he actively collaborated with the Bolsheviks, taught at the State Free Art Studios in Petrograd, and worked with Marc Chagall in Vitebsk. In the early 1920s, he caused a stir in Berlin with his exhibition at the Sturm Gallery. In 1923, he moved to France, where he gradually joined the ranks of the artists of the School of Paris. His reputation as an avant-garde hero was cemented after his death through the efforts of his widow, Ksenia Boguslavskaya. Her role as the artist's personal manager and an indispensable partner in their successful partnership became a subject of particular interest to the authors of this book. It's no coincidence that Mikhail Matyushin caustically remarked: "Ksenia Boguslavskaya, intelligent and capable, saw art primarily in its external aspects, as she herself put it: 'You have to go boom.' That is, make a big splash." The strategy worked: Ksana (as her friends called her) was able not only to immortalize her husband's memory, literally recreating his early artistic achievements, but also contributed to the creation of a mythologized history of Russian art during the "militant" decade.
