In 1903, Moscow painters and representatives of the St. Petersburg "World of Art" united to form the Union of Russian Artists. Among the members of this association were many so-called Russian impressionists - painters who combined in their work the traditions of Russian psychological realism and a special worldview with their own pictorial language that emerged in French art in the 1860s and 1870s. The fusion of two artistic elements stirred up the brightest, unique phenomenon of Russian impressionism with its intelligent, spiritual aesthetics that managed to touch the most hidden strings of the soul of nature and man. The book traces the fates of the first Russian impressionists who glorified the bright joy of being and gifted lovers of painting with the happiness of contact with the beautiful. Many difficulties and troubles fell to the lot of these artists, but, despite the circumstances, they continued to confess their love for life with their work.
