Yuz Aleshkovsky (1929-2022) was a Russian writer and poet, the author of popular "camp" songs, which were not performed on the Soviet stage, but nevertheless became famous among the people, and were fervently loved and sung even without knowing the author's name. Aleshkovsky also wrote such works as "Nikolai Nikolaevich", "Kangaroo", "Disguise", etc., which also won the people's love, although most of them were published in the writer's homeland only years after their creation. According to Joseph Brodsky, in the person of Aleshkovsky we are dealing with a unique type of writer "as an instrument of language", there are few such examples in Russian literature: Nikolai Gogol, Andrei Platonov, Mikhail Zoshchenko.... "Sentimental saturation is brought in him to the limits of mockery, fiction - to phantasmagoric", wrote Brodsky, this is "a true Orphic: a poet who completely subordinated himself to the language and received from its bounty as a reward the gift of revelation and Homeric laughter."
