Jorge Luis Borges is one of the most famous writers of the twentieth century, who in many ways determined the shape of modern literature. He became world famous after the publication of his prose fiction, amazing stories that blur the line between fiction and truth, history and imagination, literary text and the universe around us. For Borges, however, language was "a way of ordering the mysterious abundance of the world," and it is not surprising that it was poetry, in his view, that he felt should do the job best. As the author wrote, "all poetry is a mystery; and no one knows for certain what he is destined to write." Though what did he call poetry and what called prose? In the case of the great Borges, this line is very blurred. This unique edition is the first in Russia, a complete collection of "poetic" works of Jorge Luis Borges, compiled by the author at the end of his life. It includes thirteen collections, the first of which was published by Borges at the age of twenty-four at his own expense with an edition of 300 copies ("The Fever of Buenos Aires"), and the last - a year before his death ("Poruca"). Many texts are published in Russian for the first time.
