The story takes place in an old district of Kyoto, where an unusual clinic is hidden in a narrow alley. People come here, exhausted by stress, depression, and the feeling that their lives have reached a dead end. Conventional treatments have failed, and instead of the usual treatment, they receive an unexpected assignment: caring for a cat, selected to suit their personality and condition. The plot revolves around several such stories. Through everyday care, affection, and the need to be close to another creature, the characters begin to change. The novel combines psychological prose with a warm animal story, exploring support, loneliness, and recovery without spoilers or dramatic twists.
