Yuz Aleshkovsky (1929-2022) was a Russian writer and poet, author of popular "camp" songs, which were not performed on the Soviet stage, but nevertheless gained popularity among the people: "Behind the Rains," "Song about Stalin," "Soviet Easter Song," "Okurochek" - they were fervently loved and sung without even knowing the author's name. However, Aleshkovsky himself, composing his "songs", could not assume that they would become so popular and would be "sung by people with purifying laughter and sadness of heart". Aleshkovsky also wrote other works that won the people's love ("Nikolai Nikolaevich", "Kangaroo", "Disguise", etc.), although most of them were published in the writer's homeland only years after their creation. This edition presents an almost complete collection of poetic texts by Yuz Aleshkovsky, written in different years of his life, starting from the early ones - ironic, pitiful, mocking poems and songs, which reflected the absurd world of Soviet reality - and ending with poems written in the last years of his life and revealing the author's lyrical gift with unexpected depth and strength.
