"A poet in Russia is more than a poet" - these lines from a poem by Yevgeny Alexandrovich Yevtushenko, the famous "sixties" poet, could be an epigraph to his work. Rebel, dreamer, orator and tribune, he praised the poetry that rushed "to the attack of the streets", and was one of those whose work was a breath of freedom for many people. As much lifetime fame as fell to the share of Yevtushenko, few people have received. He gathered many thousands of halls, mesmerizing listeners with the pressure of emotion and beating through the edge of energy. In his poems, Yevtushenko found that intonation, and those words, thanks to which he became the voice of an entire era, and his lyrics turned into a "diary of the century". Today Yevtushenko is known all over the world, his works have been translated into more than seventy languages, and dozens of songs have been written to his poems ("Do Russians Want War?", "Here's What's Happening to Me...", "The Alder Earring", "And the Snow Will Fall, Fall...", "God willing!" and others). This edition includes selected poems by E. Yevtushenko, created in different years of his life.
