Eduard Asadov (1923-2004) is one of the most widely read lyric poets. Many who began writing poetry did so "the Asadov way," as he knew how to speak to people in a familiar and understandable language and had a keen understanding of his reader: a truly naive audience, not always able to express their feelings and thoughts. That's why Eduard Asadov's poems are primarily narrative: they are based on stories that any uninitiated reader might recognize as their own.
