Mikhail Yuryevich Lermontov was Pushkin's younger contemporary and the second great figure in Russian poetry of the 19th century after him. In 2014, the 200th anniversary of the poet's birth was celebrated. Destiny gave him only 26 years to live and only 13 years to enter the history of world literature. Lermontov's creative evolution was rapid. Romantic hero of his youthful lyrics challenges the whole world: "I was born that the whole world was a spectator of the triumph or my death ...", in later poems the poet speaks on behalf of his generation. Overcoming romantic rhetoric, summarizing the most important discoveries of his time, Lermontov essentially summed up the golden age of Russian poetry and opened new horizons for it. This edition includes the poems of 1828-1841 and the poems "Mtsyri", "Demon", "The Song about the Merchant Kalashnikov".
