Nikolai Albertovich Kun (1877–1940) was a writer and historian, author of the popular book "Legends and Myths of Ancient Greece."

Equally interesting is the collection "Tales of the Peoples of Africa." It contains stories of the Hottentots, Zulus, Bechuanas, Ovagereros, Somalis, and other African peoples. The tales tell of monsters and sorcerers, cannibals and animals, and wondrous adventures. Africans seek answers to questions such as: how was the world created, where did diseases come from, why does the jackal have a variegated stripe on its back?

In addition to the tales, Nikolai Kun provides a detailed description of each tribe, explaining the peculiarities of their way of life. The publication is complemented by black-and-white illustrations and photographs.
