Irish mythology is one of the richest in Europe, second only to Greek and Latin mythology. There were different principles for classifying the legends, or sagas. One of them was to categorize the tales into one cycle or another. This edition includes sagas from the mythological and historical (also called royal) cycles. This corpus of texts is joined by a number of legends "about the antiquity of places" and other extant sources telling about the life, everyday life, and military deeds of the Irish people in the distant past. The conquest of Ireland and the establishment of Christianity there was quite painless and brought the Celts writing. In addition, there was some continuity between the former cult of the Druids and the new religion. You will read about these glorious times, about the main Irish saints, "about the antiquity of places" in the proposed book. For historians, students of history and philology, and all those interested in the history of medieval Europe.
