The Silver Age... An amazing period in the history of Russian culture that began at the end of the 19th century and was interrupted by the October coup d'état. It was a time of intellectual epiphanies and social upheavals that were widely echoed in art and literature. Along with masterpieces by Alexander Blok and Anna Akhmatova, Sergei Esenin and Marina Tsvetaeva, the reader will find in the collection poems by dozens of other masters of verse - from the philosopher Vladimir Solovyov to the eccentric and egofuturist Konstantin Olimpov. Before you - a kind of lyrical diary of the era, which, in the words of Nikolai Otsup, "in strength and energy, as well as in the abundance of amazing creatures, almost has no analogy in the West: it is as if squeezed into three decades of phenomena that took, for example, in France, the entire nineteenth and early twentieth century". The edition is accompanied by a detailed foreword by critic and literary historian Valery Shubinsky.
