This edition is an almost complete collection of Irish tales-sagas of the Ulster Cycle (or "Cycle of Cuchulain and Conchobar"). The main action of these legends takes place at the turn of our era and is described from the perspective of the north-eastern region of Ireland, the so-called Ulidia. The cycle itself was presumably compiled in the 8th-9th centuries, but behind it there is a much more ancient world - wars and internecine strife, prophecies of the druids and magical songs of poets, ritual feasts, battles with monsters and much more that made up the material and spiritual culture of pagan Ireland. The translations are accompanied by detailed commentary. The book is addressed to philologists, historians and anyone interested in European culture.
