This is the first of two volumes of a book entitled "The Psychological Topology of the Path."

Named "The Psychological Topology of the Path" in accordance with the author's intention, this two-volume work is a collection of lecture courses, preparatory notes, and other archival materials related to M.K. Mamardashvili's (1930–1990) "thinking and articulating" his own philosophical thought based on one of the most significant literary works of the 20th century—Madrid Proust's novel "In Search of Lost Time." For M. Mamardashvili, Proust's novel provides a unique space for understanding what could be called the phenomenology of the event.

This volume presents the reader with a lecture course delivered by M. Mamardashvili to students at Tbilisi State University in 1981–1982.

The "From the Archive" section contains preparatory materials for lectures given in 1981–1982, as well as a full presentation of materials relating to M. Mamardashvili's earlier work on Proust's novel In Search of Lost Time.

This edition has been corrected and expanded since its original publication in 2015.
