Beatriz is a young and graceful lady from Barcelona, a mother of two children, a banker's wife, and an active member of the Concert Circle of music lovers. One day the Concert Circle invites to perform in Barcelona a Polish pianist Witold, whose surname has so many "ch" letters that no one can pronounce it and everyone calls him just a Pole. He is "a famous interpreter of Chopin, however quite peculiar: his Chopin is not romantic in the least, on the contrary, he is austere, Chopin is like an heir to Bach. At first, Witold does not make much of an impression on Beatrice, but she makes quite an impression on him. But how do you convey your true feelings in a language that is not your mother tongue?...?
