Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar's brutal Medellin cartel was responsible for trafficking tons of cocaine to North America and Europe in the 1980s and 1990s. The country became a war zone as his hitmen ruthlessly murdered thousands of people to ensure he remained the ruling thief in Colombia. With billions in personal income, Pablo Escobar bribed politicians and lawmakers and became a hero to poorer communities by building houses and sports centers. He was almost untouchable, despite efforts by Colombia's national police to bring him to justice. But Escobar was also one of the most wanted criminals in America, and the Drug Enforcement Administration created a task force to put an end to Escobar's terror. It included agents Steve Murphy and Javier F. Peña. For eighteen months, from July 1992 through December 1993, Steve and Javier carried out their assignment, finding themselves in the crosshairs of hitmen targeting them for a $300,000 reward Escobar had set for each of the agents.
