Nikolai Zabolotsky was a prominent cosmist poet in Russian literature, who, in his poetry, steeped in philosophical ideas, sought to discover the source of beauty. Together with other philosophical poets, he founded OBERIU, a union of friendly and prolific creators of a completely new art.

"A poet of naked, concrete figures, brought close to the viewer's eyes," N. Zabolotsky described himself, whose work must be perceived first and foremost with the heart. Many of his poems (sometimes with slight alterations to the original lines) have become famous songs, performed to this day: "I Do Not Seek Harmony in Nature," "The Juniper Bush," "The Speeches of Lovers Are Broken," "In This Birch Grove," "The Signs of the Zodiac Are Fading," and others. This collection comprises the best works of this poet, whose style is distinguished by extraordinary musicality, fresh artistic imagery, sincere feeling, and profound thought.
