Lydia Chervinskaya (1906–1988) was a poet of Russian Paris and one of the key figures of the "unnoticed generation." This collection includes three books written during her lifetime—"Approaches" (1934), "Dawns" (1937), and "Twelve Months" (1956)—as well as unpublished poems from the archives and rare prose: "We," "Boredom," "Expectation," and "At the Last Minute."

Imbued with a "Parisian note"—restrained melancholy and confessional sincerity—Chervinskaya's poems capture the tragic experience of emigration, love, and loneliness. The publication is supplemented by an introduction and commentary by the editor, Konstantin Lvov, which for the first time reveals in detail the poet's dramatic biography: in 1944, Chervinskaya was arrested in connection with the "Bois de Boulogne Waterfall Affair"—an episode in the history of the French Resistance involving the activities of a Gestapo double agent. She spent over a year in prison and was brought before a military tribunal in Paris, which ultimately acquitted her.
