The refined and laconic Japanese poetry of haiku has always been a reflection of the natural world, embodied in the endless change of seasons. A person living an ordinary life, whose five senses are tuned to the constant perception of the beauty of the earth and sky, flowers and grass, the songs of cicadas and the warmth of the sun - this is the lyrical hero of the genre, which unites poetry, painting and calligraphy. Haiku authors created a kind of poetic calendar, which allocated space for various plants and animals, insects, birds and fish, for everyday sketches and holidays. This unique edition offers the reader a look at the natural world through the prism of Japanese three-line verses. The book covers the first two seasons of the year - spring and summer - and contains more than one and a half thousand haiku by famous classics of the genre, translated by the famous orientalist Alexander Arkadyevich Dolin. The design uses numerous engravings and drawings by medieval Japanese authors, as well as paintings by the famous modern master of Japanese painting in the sumi-e style Oleg Usov. The collection is supplemented with calligraphic works by Stanislav Usov.
