The poem "The Faerie Queene" was written by Edmund Spenser (c. 1552–1599), who ranks alongside Chaucer, Shakespeare, and Milton as one of the greatest English poets. Of the intended 12 books of his epic poem "The Faerie Queene," Spenser completed only six. Each book is devoted to one of the cardinal human virtues. This volume presents a verse translation of the final books of Spenser's epic poem. Book V is devoted to justice, and Book VI to courtesy. Olga Slavyanka translated these books. Fragments of the unfinished Book VII—on constancy—were translated by A.V. Lukyanov. The appendices include previously published Russian translations of individual fragments of the poem, as well as a review of illustrations from other editions of the poem itself and its adaptations.

The book includes a preface, notes, and a bibliography. It is intended for a wide range of readers.
