KGB, or how grandmothers cooked

During Soviet times, when the authors were very young, they watched with interest as their grandmothers performed their sacred rites in the kitchen. Food supplies were much scarcer back then than they are now. But the shortage of goods didn't mean a shortage of culinary imagination. Quite the contrary, it fueled imagination and sparked creativity. In the absence of the internet, everyone eagerly exchanged ideas, secrets of signature dishes, and recipes for holidays and everyday occasions. They wrote them down in special notebooks. This was typically done by grandmothers, as they are the keepers of family traditions, in which shared meals are of great importance.

The authors of the book have carefully preserved their grandmothers' notebooks and now offer readers a selection of their recipes.
