“I am a sleeping door. A Scientific Novel (2016) is the final installment of the trilogy Codex 1962 (CoDex 1962), which the Guardian called the Icelandic 1001 at night. The first and second books, “You have seen my embryo.” A Love Story (1994) and In Cold Dew Primary. Criminal History (2001), published in the publishing house Gorodets in 2022-2024.
In the third book, Joseph, a clay baby from a hat box, being already a mature man, completes the story of his father to a mysterious interlocutor. One of the main plot lines of the novel is associated with the laboratory “CoDeh”, which investigates the causes of strange diseases in people born in Iceland in 1962. It would seem that the task of scientists is noble - to save humanity from hereditary diseases, but the author, with his inherent subtle irony, again raises before the reader delicate questions.
The novel “I Am the Sleeping Door”, like the first books of Sion’s amazing trilogy, is woven with threads of the past and insights about the future, mysterious stories, scientific discoveries, eroticism, poetry and magical realism.
