The publication includes ten Irish folk tales, collected and literary processed in the first half of the 20th century by the writer, playwright, poet and author of "A Popular History of Ireland" Seamus MacManus. All texts are given in the translation of Semyon Grigorievich Zaimovsky. The book is decorated with original initial letters, ornaments, headpieces, as well as more than thirty drawings by the American artist and illustrator Frank Verbeck. In the modern history of Ireland, there were many people who carefully collected the folklore of their homeland. James Stevens became a famous popularizer of its ancient myths. His associate was the writer and playwright Seamus MacManus. He often listened to them being recited by shanghai - this is what professional storytellers were called in Ireland. They passed sagas, legends and tales from mouth to mouth, without writing them down. MacManus understood perfectly well that this national heritage must be recorded on paper.
