Fairy tales of different nations of the world are interesting not only for children. Such stories allow us to take a look at the origins of a country's culture through folklore, get acquainted with the realities of its traditional life and better understand the mentality of our neighbors on the planet. This book contains more than two dozen fairy tales of India - a country exotic, distant and at the same time in some way close to us in spirit. It is no coincidence that the structure of some Indian fairy tales resembles the familiar domestic structure from childhood, only in it, for example, not a wolf and a fox act, but a tiger and a jackal. There are plots that resemble European fairy tales: a brave tailor in India becomes a courageous potter. The plots of other Indian fairy tales are unique, and this is their charm. All the fairy tales for this book were collected and processed by children's writer and translator Olga Mikhailovna Korzhinskaya.

This edition is decorated with drawings by two artists: John Batten and Nikolai Nikolaevich Karazin
