The collection includes works by front-line poets whose creative and life paths were largely determined by the Great Patriotic War. Among them are Alexander Tvardovsky, Konstantin Simonov, Arseny Tarkovsky, Bulat Okudzhava, David Samoilov, Yuri Levitansky, Boris Slutsky, Semyon Gudzenko... Some of the poems included in the publication were written during the war - the voice of the Muse continued to sound along with the roar of guns. Another part was created years after its end. Looking back into the past, listening to themselves, turning to the depths of memory, the generation of yesterday's soldiers recreated, line by line, one of the greatest and most tragic pages of Russian history.
