The collection includes author Josef Koshin's fairy tales, a story by Galina Artemieva, and tales recorded by the seventeenth-century German writer Paul Pretorius. The idea for the book came to its compiler Galina Artemieva in Prague, during the celebration of the release of her other book "A Large Collection of Legends, Myths, and Fairy Tales of the Western Slavs". Josef Košin's tales are based on folk stories, but he is a full-fledged author of his own fairy tales. They were extremely popular with several generations of Czech readers. In Russia these fairy tales are published for the first time. "Student waiting for a miracle, or Life in the house of Dr. Faust" - author's story compiler, G.M. Artemieva, it is based on Old Prague legends and legends about the famous Dr. Faust and the fate of his house. The third section of the collection is occupied by tales about the Spirit of the Rübetzal Mountains, collected by Paul Pretorius. Tales about silly Gonza (there are many of them in the Czech Republic) are similar to our fairy tales about Ivanushka the Fool, will be interesting and understandable to young readers. But there are also quite adult tales, for example, about a treacherous sister who fell in love with a robber and acted against her brother, who did everything for her; and about the punishment that followed for her sister, a terrible punishment. The pleasure of reading "Antique Tales" will get and fans of entertaining children's tales, and those who seek in the works of folklore instructive instructions based on centuries of experience, and adherents of horror - stories filled with mystical horror.
