"The Yellow Wallpaper" is a short story by American writer Charlotte Perkins Gilman, first published in January 1892 in the New England Magazine. The novel is considered an important early work of American women's literature on attitudes toward women's health in the 19th century. It is also highly regarded as a work of horror fiction.

The story is written as a collection of diary entries, narrated in the first person. A woman who has recently given birth, whose doctor husband has rented an old mansion for the summer, is troubled by the hideous yellow wallpaper left in the nursery on the second floor. The heroine cannot bear the sight of this wallpaper, seeing various disturbing images, and we are gradually drawn into her state.

"Ladyland" is a utopian novel about an isolated society composed exclusively of women—a society free of war and conflict. That is, until men arrive.
