Sigebert (c. 1028–1112), a monk from the monastery of St. Peter in Gembloux (near Namur in modern Belgium), the author of many historical, hagiographic and polemical works, studied theology and wrote hagiographies. His most famous is the world "Chronicle", synchronized in different countries and brought to 1111. The "Chronicle" was continued by Abbot Anselm until 1135, and then by the monks of Gembloux until 1148. This chronicle is a valuable historical source, popular in the Middle Ages and compiled by later chroniclers. In Russian, the "Chronicle" is published in full for the first time. The book is provided with a scientific apparatus, appendices and indexes.
