Alena Kirsanova is a novelist and playwright. She was born in 1989 in Novosibirsk. Her debut novel was longlisted for the Lyceum Prize, and her play received a special mention at the independent Lyubimovka Drama Festival.

After two years living abroad, the heroine of her autofiction novel "Carry-on Luggage" sets off on a journey to places significant to her: St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Kyzyl, and Saryg-Sep, to see loved ones and unravel her family history. She wants to take with her things that remind her of home, but ultimately realizes she'll leave with just a backpack, like a true nomad. Only, unlike her ancestors, she's a digital nomad.
