An amazing story about the successful pirate Henry Avery, who committed the largest robbery in the world - he captured the ship "Ganges-i-Sawai" with treasures and the retinue of the Mughal emperor. The attack provoked an international scandal, and Avery became the first criminal to be declared wanted worldwide. People composed legends about him and sang in ballads as the "Robin Hood of the seas". There were rumors that he became an African king, married the captured granddaughter of the emperor, squandered the loot and died in poverty in his native Devon.

The mystery of Henry Avery's disappearance remained unsolved for more than three centuries. And then the authors of the book suddenly found an encrypted letter in the archive. Based on this document, they put forward their own version of the subsequent life of the “pirate king”, linking him with other iconic figures of the early 18th century: the writer and secret agent Daniel Defoe, King William III and Queen Anne, and the Archbishop of Canterbury Thomas Tenison, the worst enemy of Catholic France.
