This story is an attempt to pick up and continue the adventure of the book hunters. I wanted to try to become their fellow travelers in pursuit of lost manuscripts, unknown stories, dying voices. It is possible that they were just bloodhounds in the service of rulers tormented by delusions of grandeur, unaware of the importance of their task, considering it absurd and grumbling at night in the open air, when the last embers of the fires were dying down, that they could no longer risk their lives for the dreams of a madman. Surely they would have preferred to go on missions that promised an easier promotion: to suppress rebellions in the Nubian desert or to inspect the cargo on Nile barges. Either way, I suspect that, chasing all the books in the world as if they were pieces of a scattered treasure, they were, without knowing it, laying the foundations of our world.
