Pavel Pavlovich Zavarzin is a Russian gendarme officer, major general of the Separate Corps of Gendarmes. The book by a secret police officer tells about the affairs of the tsarist secret police, contains detailed details about the work of professional revolutionaries. The author did not escape this fate. After his release, he emigrated to France, where he wrote memoirs about his work in the special service.
