In the fourth book of the famous autobiographical epic by American writer Laura Ingles Wilder, dad Charles, mom Caroline and four daughters complete their wanderings. Their lives are still far from serene. Fortunately, Dad has managed to secure a nice vacant piece of land on the shores of Silver Lake, near the Dakota border. He builds the house again, this time thoroughly and permanently, and plants trees around it. There are many adventures in the story: horseback riding, encounters with wolves, snow-covered beds, lost baby Grace. New life is boiling all around: railroads are laid, working settlements appear, even murders are committed for the sake of capturing someone else's land. But in Laura's patriarchal family in the evenings still sounds daddy's violin, and on the shelf is painted porcelain shepherdess - a symbol of family prosperity and comfort. Surprisingly, the sisters' childhood without cartoons and an abundance of toys nevertheless seems perfectly happy. In the book there are no far-fetched stunning plots, but you do not want to part with its characters. The story about Laura will be interesting to teenagers of middle school age, especially girls.
