Ernest Cunningham loves classic detective fiction, writes books on how to write detective stories, and is clearly more adept at deductive reasoning than the local police officer. In a short time, he managed to solve two high-profile crimes and make a name for himself.
Erin, Cunningham's ex-wife, turns to Ernest for help. She is accused of murdering Lyle Pearce, but she remembers nothing of the crime, despite the victim's blood being found on her hands and face.
