“The greatest poet of our time, a literary descendant of Pushkin along the Tyutchev line, he will remain the pride of Russian poetry as long as the last memory of it is alive,” wrote Vladimir Nabokov about Khodasevich. In addition to poems, the creative heritage of Vladislav Khodasevich includes historical and literary works about Pushkin and a biography of Derzhavin, critical articles and memoirs, including “Necropolis” – a sample of brilliant memoir prose and one of the most vivid testimonies about the era of the Silver Age. Khodasevich’s poetic debut took place in 1905 in the almanac of the symbolist publishing house “Grief”, where three years later the first poetic book – “Youth” (1908) was published, followed by the collection “Happy House” (1914). Khodasevich’s early work, which became a reflection of the mystical trends of the Silver Age, by the definition of critics, was a kind of “cocoon” from which all his mature lyrics came out. This edition fully presents the creative path of the poet: from early youthful poems to the main books, which became a fusion of the Pushkin tradition and the achievements of Russian modernism and brought Vladislav Khodasevich the glory of a great poet: “Through the Grain” (1920), “Heavy Lyre” (1921) and “European Night” (1927).
