Jorge Luis Borges is one of the most famous writers of the twentieth century, who in many ways determined the shape of modern literature. Umberto Eco in his essay on the influence of Borges formulates the main principle of the great Argentinean's works: "Books talk to each other". Borges himself wrote: "Someone is proud of every book written, I am proud of every book read". In numerous interviews Borges called himself not so much a writer as an attentive, grateful reader.
This edition includes two famous collections of Borges' literary reflections: "Discussion" and "New Investigations" in full, including texts that have never been published in Russian. Also printed in Russian for the first time are four lectures Borges gave on tango in 1965 in Buenos Aires. Literature and dance, poetry and eternity, dreams and magic - these are the themes to which Borges returns again and again, inviting the reader on a journey "through the shaky labyrinths of time.
